Who is a clinical psychologist?
A clinical psychologist is a mental health professional who uses validated coping tools to help people develop healthier, more effective habits. Psychologists use assessments and therapy to collaborate a tailor made treatment based on the relationship between an individual and a psychologist. By the time you’re done, you will not only have solved the problem that brought you in, but you will have learned new skills so you can better cope with whatever challenges arise in the future. Current research indicates that unresolved mind issues lead to stress, depression, anxiety, anger, sleep and other behavioral, mental and physical health problems. Research also indicates that many people wait until they view their situation as ‘severe’ before seeking therapy. Often, therapy can be more helpful to people who choose not to wait, but seek help early. Do you ever feel too overwhelmed to deal with your problems? If so, you’re not alone.

What actually happens during a therapy sessions? – All sessions are private and confidential
Each client is unique and the session frequency and treatment duration vary on a case-by-case basis. People might feel blank and unclear about what they need to work on, apart from a general sense of needing help. That’s where our work begins. However, some clients may be very keen on what they want to achieve and that could evolve as they enter a state of explorations and discoveries.
We usually go through the following:
- An initial interview is taken using a variety of standardised and non-standardised tools to understand the nature of concerns.
- Assessment sessions – we use standardised, cultural-fair tools to obtain a pre-therapy score, validate the concerns and gain a better understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of the client. Assessments usually take between 1-3 sessions depending on individual needs.
- A report is usually prepared after the assessment .A fee is usually charged for reports provided.
- Assessment outcomes are discussed which determine future goals.

- A recommendation that further therapy healing sessions are required.
- Recommendations and tips for the best possible plan of action
- Booster sessions
- Further comprehensive assessments recommendation
We offer a range of evidence based therapeutic approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) as well as incorporating Mindfulness techniques and principles of positive psychology to support clients. Our counselling service is offered to individuals – both adults and children – couples and families.
