Vanessa is a Clinical Psychologist, who graduated with a Bachelor in Psychology and with a Master in Clinical and Organizational Psychology from the University of Groningen. She is a member of the British Psychological Society. Vanessa has a great interest in understanding and helping children, adolescents and adults. She is equipped with a vast knowledge and skills. She uses various intervention techniques and modalities in the scope of her practice (e.g. Therapeutic Play, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Schematherapy, etc.). 
 
Her extensive experience includes working with children, adolescents, who experience emotional – behavioural difficulties with different degrees of severity. she works closely with parents to ensure that they are equipped and feel empowered to manage unhelpful emotions and behaviour.
She believes in building up a safe and trustful relationship with each individual is crucial in the therapeutic process and uses a tailor-made approach for each child. She uses non – verbal and/or verbal approaches depending on the child’s age, development and individual need. She understands that children communicate through play and express non – verbally and verbally.  She believes that positive change can be shifted through challenging thought patterns and behaviour. Depending on the age of a client she makes use of playful approaches to ensure that the child feels safe and comfortable to share difficult feelings and concerns. She sees everyone as an individual and creates an unique treatment plan. She specialises helping expatriates in Hong Kong.
 
Vanessa works together with international schools in Hong Kong, offers individual therapy, group therapy and gives workshops and trainings. She conducts Psycho-Educational Assessments with a focus on Special Educational Needs at Integrate hk. She highly values the importance of working closely together with parents and school in order to offer best possible support for each child.
