MA Health & Social Care Policy & Management
EASI & SI, TL Cert and Bobath NDT Cert
Vivian was born in Hong Kong and grew up in the UK. She has worked as an experienced and registered occupational therapist (MA, BSc Hons) with over 20 years’ experience. Vivian is fluent in both spoken and written English and Cantonese, and since returning to Hong Kong 10 years ago, she has worked for both NGOs and private clinics.
While in the UK, Vivian worked in London’s National Health Service and Social Services – and in various clinical settings, psychiatry, paediatrics and neurology, in-hospital (ICU) and outpatients (schools and homes). She was involved in developing many of the now popular services in the UK such as early years support (from hospital discharge to home and to school); risk-management for high risk pregnancy by joining force with the midwifery, and child development team which use a team approach in supporting special needs children and their families.
Throughout her career, Vivian has combined being a clinician with managing and supervising different teams, comprising speech and language therapists, physiotherapists, social workers and medical registrars; as a manager she planned departmental annual strategies and monitored staff development.
Since starting in 1997, her priority has always been to maintain her professional development, and ensure she is up to speed with the latest knowledge-based research. She enjoys working in paediatrics and, since becoming a mother of two, her knowledge and skills have evolved through using Ayre’s sensory integration, neurodevelopmental treatment (NDT), and behavioural and emotional attachment.
Her clinical experience has seen her working with and supporting a wide range of children in Hong Kong, which includes children with Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD), Dysfunction of Sensory Integration, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Learning Difficulties, Handwriting issues, Cerebral Palsy, Muscular Dystrophy and Spinal Muscular Atrophy, Genetic and Chromosomal Disorders, Down syndrome and Global Developmental Delays.
Vivian shares Integrate’s vision in that she values parent-therapist collaboration and uses a client – centred approach, where she utilises sensory integration as the prime frame of reference. She is equipped with the knowledge of various intervention techniques and modalities within its scope of practise. During her sessions she applies a variety of approaches, using Sensory Integration and Neuro – developmental ideas, Therapeutic Listening and group therapy focusing on social skill development.
