Telehealth | Online Therapy for Children & Parents
Understanding the Process
What is Telehealth Play Therapy?
Telehealth play therapy allows your child to meet with me online instead of in the physical playroom. I use Teleo, a secure, child‑friendly telehealth platform designed specifically for mental health and play‑based work with children and families.
Sessions are held over encrypted video and use playful, creative activities tailored to your child. Just like in‑person play therapy, we focus on relationship, safety and regulation – we simply adapt our tools for the online space with games, drawing, stories, movement and simple activities you can do together at home.
Teleo is built to meet high privacy and security standards and is HIPAA‑compliant, meaning it is designed to protect sensitive health information when used appropriately. This helps ensure your child’s sessions are held in a safe, confidential online environment.
Benefits of Telehealth using the Teleo platform
Comfort of home
Your child joins sessions from a familiar space, which can reduce anxiety and help them feel more at ease and open to play.
Less travel, more flexibility
No driving, parking or waiting rooms. Telehealth sessions can fit more smoothly around school, work and family life.
Continuity of care
Online play therapy makes it possible to keep support going during illness, bad weather, travel or other disruptions to in‑person sessions.
Secure and purpose‑built
Teleo is a HIPAA‑compliant telehealth platform designed specifically for mental health and play‑based work, supporting secure video sessions and child‑friendly tools.
How We Practice Telehealth Play Therapy
Telehealth sessions are planned so they feel clear, safe and predictable for both you and your child.
Before we begin, we’ll meet (online or by phone) to:
-
Talk through your child’s needs and what you’re noticing at home or school
-
Consider whether Telehealth is suitable for your child at this time
-
Go over what you’ll need at home (device, internet, space and basic play materials)
During Telehealth sessions, we:
-
Log in through a secure Teleo link
-
Use age‑appropriate, playful activities that support your child’s regulation, expression and connection
-
Check in with you as a parent or carer where appropriate, so you feel supported and informed
After sessions, I may offer small, manageable ideas to try at home, school or in the community, at a pace that feels realistic for your family.
Telehealth won’t be the right option for every child or every season, and that’s okay. For some families, in‑person support, Telehealth, or a blend of both can work well.
